Data corruption: Detection, prevention, elimination & removal

One interesting item that comes to mind during these 2 consecutive 
sessions of corruption was that the server started with a USB 
keyboard attached and then after Panorama had booted, the USB 
keyboard was detached from the computer. The server is a headless 
'Mac mini' but during these two boots, I had a keyboard attached when 
it was restarted (to avoid a Bluetooth searching for keyboard dialog) 
but then after the boot was completed, I removed the keyboard.

Would the removal of the USB keyboard in any way affect Panorama and 
could this have been the source of the corruption? (I have removed 
USB keyboards and mice from computers for many years without any 
noticeable effect.)
