Printing problem

I just installed a Canon IP3500 printer.  It worked beautifully on a test
Word document.  I then went to Panorama to print a small half-page size
database.  To see what it would look like, I selected Print Preview and got
a spinning ball.  After force quitting, I clicked Print and got the same
result.

I¹m running v5.5 on a 10.5 IMac.  What is the problem?
