PrintPDF command

I tried out the PrintPDF command this morning...and it worked,  
producing a record from a 3x5 format layout.
However, the file was 1.2 Mb in size, whereas printing using the  
conventional print/PDF command manually produced a 52kb file.
Is there a way to control the size of the print resulting from PrintPDF?
