fontusage is a statement, not a function. Instead of 

local lFontlist
lFontlist = fontusage "",fontlist
displaydata lFontlist,""

you should write thie:

local lFontlist
fontusage "",lfontlist
displaydata lFontlist,""

By the way, this would also work, so the example in the reference is
correct (thoug I must admit it is a bit sparse as examples go)

local fontsinuse
fontusage "",fontsinuse
displaydata fontsinuse,""
