password protected pdfs

I'm pretty sure you need the full Adobe Acrobat to add passwords to pdfs.
The Save as pdf option in OS X 10.2 and above saves as "vanilla" pdf. Any special features, like indexing, copy protection, passwords, etc, require Acrobat.
One workaround might be to write a procedure that does a savepdf and then executes an Applescript routine that will open that file in Acrobat (which is Applescriptable) and password protect it with a password that is passed through from a Panorama variable.

Sorry, no.
There may be a unix shell tool that can add passwords to PDF files, but
I don't know of one offhand and couldn't find one in a few minutes of
google searching.
