duplicating contents of a field

  I have a database and would like to duplicate the existing items in  
one of the fields and have them appended to the same field. Say, for  
example, field 1 contains:

A
B
C
D
E

I would like a way to duplicate and append to get:

A
B
C
D
E
A
B
C
D
E

without changing any of the data in any of the other fields. Is there  
an easy way to do that?
