handling incomplete dates

Something else to keep in mind if you are still considering 
converting this field to a date field is that the year 2032 is closer 
to today's date than 1932, and with international settings set for 
the United States, the second number is the day of the month, so 
changing "0/4/32" to "1/4/32" would give you a date that Panorama 
wouldn't consider to be problematic, but it would be interpreted as 
January 4, 2032.
