Filename option in printpdf command

Is it possible to use a variable (rather than a ³string²) for any of the
options in the printpdf command.
Most importantly the file name.

I do have a work-around  I could use a ³string² and then do a rename ­ I¹m
trying to avoid that.

Example of use:
Issuing invoices I want the name of the customer to be part of the file
name.
