delete Pan folder and reinstall, do I have to de-activate first?

You should not affect your registration at all doing this. All the
registration information resides elsewhere on your computer. Since I
have a bunch of my own custom stuff residing in my working Panorama
folder, I always first rename my existing Panorama folder and then
install the new version to the Applications folder and then transfer
over my own items as needed. The drawback with this method is you do
not automatically retain your custom statements and functions as a
straight install will do. I prefer to do it manually since it gives
me the opportunity to sift through my personal things to see what is
worth transferring.
