clipboard display in Windows

Yes, that is exactly the problem: users click on ShowClipboard (a button),
the display window pops up and shows BLANK. Subsequent pastes behave as
expected, pasting whatever. But the user, seeing a blank contents window,
believes the clipboard carries nothing.
