font won't display properly

I have a client on a Windows XP machine who is having font problems
such that the fonts on my layouts do not appear correctly on his
machine. They are fine on my Windows XP machine...the font is set to
Alpine 9 or Alpine 10 and they display properly for me. Both machines
show the Alpine font (TrueType) as being installed in the fonts folder.
On his machine the fonts appear to be condensed and
flattened...actually looks like a different font from the screen shot
he sent me...
In addition to the font, where I display the option-8 character
(bullet) which appears round on my Mac, the bullets appear as ovals
on my Windows machine but are perfectly acceptable and they show as
bullets.
The bullets on his display look more like giant hyphens or small
rectangles.
We both have the same screen resolution settings (1024x768). I can
think of nothing beyond the screen resolution and font issues that
might cause this anomaly. None of my other clients (running XP) have
indicated a problem. Any suggestions much appreciated.
