Panorama was originally released for the Macintosh in
1988, but since the release of Panorama 4.0 in 2000
it has been available for both Windows and Macintosh
systems. Databases can easily be transferred back and
forth between Mac and PC systems, or even shared
simultaneously on a cross-platform network using the
Panorama Enterprise
Server. As shown in the screen shots below,
the Panorama data sheet, forms, crosstabs and
procedures all look and work the same on both
platforms (with a very short list of exceptions
for operating system specific features, see
Mac/PC Porting
Tips).
If you are still using Panorama 4.0 for Windows, we've recently overhauled the software from top to bottom, with dramatic improvements in every area of the program. Panorama is now optimized for Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, and has a new look and feel that matches your system. We've added support for scroll wheels/mouse wheels, and dramatically reduced Panorama's processor usage (your fans stay quiet and laptop battery life while running Panorama is significantly improved). Plus of course the Windows version now includes dozens of fantastic new features added to Panorama 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 for the Mac (see the Release Notes PDF file for details). Upgrades to Panorama 6.0 are available for purchase from our online store.
